Tale of Despereaux

Over the holiday weekend I saw the first commercial for the movie adaptation of Tale of Depereaux by Kate DiCamillo. I like that it's animated, and hope that they kept true to the book. Kate's other books include: Because of Winn-Dixie, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, and the Mercy Watson series. If you haven't read Tale of despereaux do that before you see the movie!

New Book in the Doll People series

This October the new book in the Doll People series came out titled, "Runaway Dolls". We will soon have it here at Butte des Morts school and I am very excited to read the new installment in the series. Here is the description of the book:
Best friends Annabelle Doll and Tiffany Funcraft are back, and this time they've got an unexpected visitor, a new doll named Tilly May. She's arrived in a mysterious package from London, but her face looks so familiar... . Could she be Annabelle's long lost baby sister? Annabelle is convinced it absolutely must be so--but her parents refuse to believe her. With time running out before the package is at risk of being sent back to England, Annabelle and Tiffany resort to the only course of action they can think of--running away. But life on the road is fraught with its own pitfalls, from a foreboding wooded park to a close call in a department store. How will Annabelle and Tiffany find their way back home...and what's going to happen to Tilly May if and when they do?
I can't wait to find out!

Cookbooks are Very Popular!

Cookbooks have been very popular this year! Maybe more families are cooking together at home because of the high cost of gas? Maybe it's Rachael Ray? Or maybe it's because cooking is fun! We have lots of kids cookbooks in our library, and the most popular are our Halloween, Star Wars, and Roald Dahl themed cookbooks.

Have you ever tried Google cooking? It's when you put ingredients you have in the house into a google search and see what recipes it comes up with for you. For example if you put this in a google search box:
chicken rice cream of mushroom soup cheddar cheese
you will gets recipes for chicken cheddar cheese soup, rice chicken bake, and much more. Try it some time!

Jon Scieszka was very funny last night. He read from his new book Knucklehead. He grew up with 5 brothers and has all kinds of gross, funny boy stories. I read half of it last night already! The copy in the picture is the copy I bought and he signed for Butte des Morts.
