Hello Everyone,
It's my first real post. I wanted to tell everyone about the books I read this summer.
1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowlings. Now would I be a good children's librarian without reading the last of the Harry Potter books?? I have to admit that I didn't actually buy the book until early August, and I finished it the day before school started. It was well worth the wait.
2. Penny from Heaven by Jennifer L. Holm. From the author of Babymouse, who is very popular here at Butte des Morts School, comes a book about an 11 year old girl desperate to know more about her dad who died when she was very young. Her mom's side of the family doesn't talk to her dad's side of the family, and no one will answer any of her questions. A Newbery Honor award winning book that I highly recommend!
3. On the Wings of Heroes by Richard Peck. Another humorous historical fiction book by Newbery Award winning author Richard Peck. This book is set during World War II. Davy Bowman's brother, Bill, has joined the Air Force and now his parents worry about him all the time. Davy and his friends work hard to help out the war effort at home. I really enjoyed this book, like I do all of Richard Peck's books. However, I gave it to my husband and he quit reading it half way through the book. This book is for higher readers, or perfect for a parent to read to their child.
What did you read this summer? What are you reading now? Tell me all about it!

I also read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows this summer. I have to admit that I was so hooked I read it during the championship game of my son's season ending league tournament. I was very happy with they way J.K. Rowling answered all of my questions about Snape and Dumbledore. I found the book exciting, and I even cried during the book. If you've read it too, I'd love to hear what you think.

Awesome blog idea, Mrs. Peterson!! I read a lot of Christian Fiction over the summer, as well as some teacher books and, of course, lots of picture books....my very favorite!! I can never have too many books and reading materials on my coffee table!!
